Remove the digital keys before the device leaves
A factory reset is only one step. Remove shared users, cloud links, integrations, recordings, recovery details and network credentials, then confirm the device no longer appears in your account.
Safe transfer sequence
- Export only footage or access logs you genuinely need and store them securely.
- Record serial numbers and proof of ownership without sharing activation codes publicly.
- Remove household, installer and monitoring users.
- Disconnect voice assistants, automation platforms and third-party apps.
- Cancel monitoring or cloud services and confirm the effective date.
- Remove local memory cards and securely erase or physically retain them.
- Use the current manufacturer reset and account-removal procedure.
- Delete the device from the owner account and verify it is ready for a new user.
- Change reused door, gate or alarm codes elsewhere.

Do not sell a security device that remains tied to your account. The buyer may be unable to activate it, while your location, device name or historical data may remain exposed.
If disposal is the only option
Use an appropriate electronics-recycling route. Remove storage media and batteries where instructed, and do not place damaged lithium batteries in household waste. Local recycling rules differ.
