ACCOUNTABILITY
Corrections, Updates and Complaints Policy
How readers, businesses and authorities can challenge inaccurate information—and what we do when a page, tool or directory record needs correction.
What to send
- The exact page URL and the statement, listing field or calculator assumption concerned.
- Why it appears inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or misleading.
- A current primary source where possible: official register, regulator, accreditation body, service terms or manufacturer documentation.
- Your relationship to the subject and a reply address if you want a response.
How requests are assessed
| Issue | Typical action |
|---|---|
| Clear factual error | Correct promptly and review connected pages for the same error. |
| Price or availability change | Update the check date, qualify the claim or remove the outdated figure. |
| Directory record change | Recheck identity, service area, monitoring type and licence/accreditation source. |
| Reasonable disagreement | Review the evidence and explain or clarify the editorial judgement. |
| Safety or legal concern | Prioritise review and restrict or remove the claim while evidence is checked. |
Corrections and version handling
Minor spelling or formatting changes may be made without a notice. Material changes to safety, legal, pricing, provider-status or product-support claims should update the visible review date and, where useful, include a correction note. A page may be consolidated, redirected, unpublished or archived when another page serves the same search intent more completely.
Directory complaints
Claimed and unclaimed businesses are treated under the same factual standard. Verification confirms only that specified information was checked against an identified source; it does not guarantee service quality. Reviews, allegations and performance claims require a separate evidence and moderation process.
Contact route
Use the contact page and include “Correction request” or “Directory correction” in the subject. Do not send passwords, alarm codes, access logs, unredacted identity documents or footage showing private household activity unless a secure method has been agreed.
