- Ask whether cooperation is voluntary and request the exact time window and incident reference.
- Preserve the original clip and avoid supplying unrelated household or neighbour footage.
- Record the transfer and retain confirmation.
- If served with compulsory process or asked for broad access, obtain legal advice promptly.
Privacy duties still matter. Domestic CCTV capturing beyond the boundary can engage data-protection responsibilities; necessity and proportionality remain relevant.
