Home security prices in Ireland are set privately, so there is no official price list. The figures below are reported typical ranges from named Irish sources, mostly installers’ own published guides, so treat them as a starting point rather than a quote. Prices are in euro. Monitoring is where the long-term cost sits. Many companies advertise a low installation price (HomeSecure and Action24 both advertise installation from €49 on their pricing pages) and recover the cost through a monthly fee over a minimum term, so compare the total over the whole contract, what it costs to leave early and who owns the equipment. A self-monitored alarm costs more up front but has no monthly fee; it sends alerts to your phone but will not get you a Garda URN. Cable runs, mounting height and recorder storage drive most of the difference. See PoE or Wi-Fi cameras and our Irish video doorbell comparison. Whatever you buy, set it up so it records only your own property: the Data Protection Commission says cameras that capture the footpath, road or neighbours’ homes fall outside the household exemption.

What pushes a quote up

  • More detectors, cameras and entry points to cover.
  • Wired rather than wireless installation in a finished home.
  • Monitoring, dual verification and keyholder services.
  • Higher-resolution cameras, long cable runs and larger recorders.
  • Long contracts that bundle equipment into the monthly fee.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a house alarm cost in Ireland?

Typically a one-off installation fee (a Cork installer’s 2026 guide says €50 to €300) plus monitoring at €25 to €50 a month. Self-monitored systems are around €200 to €500 in equipment with no monthly fee.

How much does CCTV cost to install in Ireland?

HomePros’ 2026 guide puts a 2-camera system at €500 to €900 and a 4-camera system at €800 to €1,500, installed and including VAT.

Is a monitored alarm worth it?

It depends on whether you want a Garda response. Only a monitored system with a Garda URN is guaranteed one; a self-monitored alarm relies on you or a neighbour acting on the alert.

Does my installer need a licence?

Yes. Installing or maintaining intruder alarms or CCTV requires a Private Security Authority licence. Check the company on the PSA’s public register.
