Detect movement, report quickly and avoid confrontation
A vehicle tracker can support recovery, but it should sit behind keys, physical barriers, immobilisation and an agreed police and insurer process.
Layer the protection
- Protect keys and manufacturer accounts.
- Use visible physical delay appropriate to the vehicle.
- Enable factory and additional alarms or immobilisation where professionally suitable.
- Install the tracker so power loss or removal can generate an alert where supported.
- Record VIN, registration, tracker details and insurer requirements.
- Test movement, battery, geofence and location updates.
- If stolen, report it and share location through the process requested by local police or the tracking provider.
Do not travel to a live location or confront a suspected thief. Location data can be delayed, imprecise or attached to a moving vehicle.
