Correct the route, then review the whole system
A repair that restores the property to its previous condition may restore the same weakness. Identify how entry, movement and escape occurred, then improve deterrence, delay, detection, verification and response together.

Improvement order
- Remove immediate hazards and secure the damaged opening.
- Revoke stolen keys, codes, remotes, accounts and identity documents.
- Repair the door or window as a complete tested assembly.
- Control the approach route and reduce concealment.
- Improve shell detection before adding more distant alerts.
- Correct camera views and night performance.
- Test communication outages and the human response chain.
- Update inventories, serial numbers and household procedures.
Avoid panic purchasing. Buy only after the entry-route review identifies the problem, compatibility, installation quality, ongoing cost and who will respond.
Thirty-day follow-up
- Check every repair after normal use and changing weather.
- Review nuisance alerts and missed detections.
- Remove temporary shared access and contractor codes.
- Confirm insurance documentation and unresolved stolen-property records.
- Repeat the room-by-room risk assessment.
- Support household members who remain anxious or change routines after the event.
