CCTV cameras range from simple plug-in wireless units to fully wired multi-camera setups feeding a dedicated recorder. Wired cameras generally give more reliable footage (no dropped wifi frames, no battery to run flat) but need cabling run to each camera position, which is more disruptive to install. On storage: recording to a local SD card or NVR (network video recorder) means no subscription fee, but if the camera or recorder itself is stolen, damaged, or tampered with, that footage can be lost with it — whereas cloud storage keeps footage safe off-site but adds a recurring cost and depends on your internet upload speed to actually get footage there. Resolution and night vision range (measured in metres, not just ‘has night vision’) both vary a lot between budget and higher-end models, and are worth checking properly rather than assuming they’re all equivalent.
